Shaheed Diwas - The Immortal Sacrifice

💐 Inspiring Sunday 💐

A Nation Weeps, A Legacy Lives On

SHAHEED DIWAS - March 23

On March 23, 1931, three young revolutionaries—Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar—embraced martyrdom in Lahore Central Jail. Their sacrifice became a beacon of inspiration for India's freedom struggle, leaving an indelible mark on history.

A Night of Courage and Sacrifice

The British government, fearing public unrest, decided to execute them a day earlier than scheduled. As the jail warden approached, they chanted:

"Inquilab Zindabad!" (Long Live the Revolution!)
"Down with British Imperialism!"

Bhagat Singh smiled and said:

"A rebel’s death is not an end, but a new beginning!"

The Final Moments

Bhagat Singh’s last wish was to read Lenin’s book. When the executioners arrived, he laughed and said:

"Wait a moment! A revolutionary is meeting another!"

With "Inquilab Zindabad!" as their final words, they kissed the noose and embraced martyrdom.

A Nation Weeps, A Legacy Lives On

Their bodies were secretly cremated by the British at the banks of the Sutlej River to avoid public outrage. However, when the people of India heard the news, they erupted in grief and anger.
