On February 20, 2026, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) proudly announced YUVIKA 2026 — the Young Scientist Programme (YUva VIgyani KAryakram). This exciting initiative targets Class 9 students across India, aiming to ignite curiosity in space technology, science, and applications at an early age.

YUVIKA stands for Yuva VIgyani KAryakram — ISRO's dedicated effort to "catch them young" and inspire the next generation of Indian scientists and engineers in the field of space exploration.

Programme Format & Details

YUVIKA 2026 is a fully-funded two-week residential training programme running from May 11 to May 22, 2026. Selected students will attend at one of ISRO's premier centres, including:

  • Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (Dehradun)
  • Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (Thiruvananthapuram)
  • Satish Dhawan Space Centre (Sriharikota)
  • U R Rao Satellite Centre (Bengaluru)
  • Space Applications Centre (Ahmedabad)
  • National Remote Sensing Centre (Hyderabad)
  • North Eastern Space Applications Centre (Shillong)
  • ISRO Propulsion Complex (Mahendragiri)
  • Regional Remote Sensing Centre (Jodhpur)

ISRO provides free accommodation, meals, and study materials. Travel expenses are reimbursed as per government norms upon submission of valid tickets.

Who Can Apply? Eligibility & Selection

Any student currently in Class 9 (as of January 1, 2026) studying in any school across India is eligible.

Selection follows a merit-based system with the following weightage:
