The Story of a Dreamer
Once upon a time, there was a man who was extremely lazy and poor. He did not want to work hard but dreamt of becoming rich. He survived by begging for food.
One morning, he received a pot full of milk as alms. Overjoyed, he carried it home, boiled some, drank a portion, and set aside the rest to turn into curd.
As he lay down to sleep, he began dreaming about his future. "By morning, the milk will turn into curd. I will churn it into butter, then heat it to make ghee. I will sell the ghee and earn money. With that money, I will buy a hen. The hen will lay eggs, and soon, I will have a poultry farm!"
He continued dreaming, "I will sell the hens and buy cows and buffaloes. I will start a dairy business, and people from the city will come to buy milk from me. Soon, I will be very rich. Then, I will marry a beautiful girl from a wealthy family, and we will have a son. If my son misbehaves, I will punish him with a stick like this..."
Lost in his dream, he picked up a stick beside him and swung it in the air. Unfortunately, the stick struck the pot of milk, shattering it. The milk spilled all over the floor, and the noise woke him up. Seeing the wasted milk, he held his head in despair.
Lesson to Learn
Dreams are important, but mere daydreaming will lead to nothing. Hard work is the key to success. Nothing in life comes easily. To turn dreams into reality, one must take action and work diligently.
If you only dream without taking steps to achieve them, you are deceiving yourself. Give your 100% effort, and success will eventually follow.
