CBSE Introduces Computational Thinking & AI for Classes 3–8

Date: 09 April 2026 | Academic Session: 2026-27

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially notified the introduction of Computational Thinking and Artificial Intelligence curriculum for students in Classes 3 to 8, effective from the academic session 2026–27.

Curriculum Objectives

  • Develop logical reasoning and systematic problem-solving skills
  • Introduce age-appropriate AI concepts and ethical considerations
  • Enable interdisciplinary integration across Mathematics, Science, and Languages
  • Foster project-based, experiential learning
  • Prepare students with future-ready digital skills

District Level Deliberations 6 CPD Hours

Format: Offline, one-day workshop via Sahodaya Complexes

  • Focus on CT & AI integration across Preparatory/Middle Stage
  • Share best practices within CBSE framework
  • Select top 3 presentations for national assessment

Expert-Led Talks in Schools 3 CPD Hours

Format: Half-day session (online/offline) by Lead Schools

  • Internal or external experts on 7 sub-themes
  • Supplement with CBSE online sessions
  • Watch content on DD PM e-Vidya / CBSE TV

Regional Workshops 6 CPD Hours

Format: Online programs by CBSE Centres of Excellence

  • Registration via online process
  • Participation fee: ₹700
  • Schools nominate teachers per CoE jurisdiction
